Dissolving LIP FILLER Treatment in LONDON

Dissolving Lip Filler Treatment London at London Lip Clinic offers a safe, effective way to remove unwanted or migrated lip filler using hyaluronidase. Expertly performed by Rupesh Shah on Harley Street, we restore your lips to a natural appearance before refining or replacing filler if desired.

What is Dissolving Lip Filler?

Dissolving Lip Filler is a treatment that uses an enzyme called hyaluronidase to safely break down and dissolve unwanted hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers. It is commonly performed to correct overfilled lips, filler migration, asymmetry, lumps, uneven results or when a patient simply wishes to return to their natural lips before having new filler placed.

Lips

The most commonly treated area for filler dissolving. Hyaluronidase can be used to:

  • Reduce overfilled lips
  • Correct migrated filler (“filler moustache”)
  • Improve asymmetry
  • Remove lumps and unevenness
  • Reverse unsatisfactory lip filler results
  • Prepare the lips for fresh filler treatment

Cheeks

Cheek filler can be dissolved to:

  • Reduce excessive volume
  • Correct uneven or asymmetrical results
  • Improve an unnatural or over-projected appearance
  • Remove misplaced filler

Tear Troughs (Under-Eye Area)

Dissolving may be recommended for:

  • Puffiness or swelling
  • Visible filler
  • Blue-grey discolouration (Tyndall effect)
  • Uneven correction
  • Poorly placed filler
  • Persistent fluid retention

Chin

Chin filler can be dissolved to:

  • Correct over-projection
  • Improve asymmetry
  • Remove lumps or irregular contours
  • Reverse an unnatural appearance

Jawline

Treatment may be suitable to:

  • Reduce excessive definition
  • Correct asymmetry
  • Improve uneven contours
  • Remove misplaced filler
  • Restore a softer, more natural jawline

Nasolabial Folds (Smile Lines)

Filler can be dissolved to:

  • Correct overcorrection
  • Improve asymmetry
  • Remove visible or palpable filler
  • Achieve a more natural facial appearance

Marionette Lines

Hyaluronidase may be used to:

  • Remove excess filler
  • Correct uneven results
  • Improve facial balance
  • Prepare for more appropriate treatment

Temples

Temple filler can be dissolved if there is:

  • Excess volume
  • Asymmetry
  • Incorrect filler placement
  • An unnatural contour

Nose (Non-Surgical Rhinoplasty)

Filler dissolving may be required to:

  • Correct an unsatisfactory result
  • Reduce excessive projection
  • Improve asymmetry
  • Reverse previous nose filler treatment

Important: The nose is a high-risk anatomical area. Dissolving treatment should only be carried out by an experienced medical practitioner with an in-depth understanding of facial anatomy.

Perioral Area (Around the Mouth)

Filler around the mouth can be dissolved to treat:

  • Smoker’s lines
  • Overfilled perioral wrinkles
  • Uneven correction
  • Excess volume around the lips

Hands

Hyaluronic acid filler used for hand rejuvenation can also be dissolved if:

  • Too much volume has been added
  • Results are uneven
  • Lumps or irregularities develop
  • The patient wishes to reverse treatment

Making the Most of Your Facial Filler Dissolving Treatment

MAKING THE MOST OF YOUR APPOINTMENT AT LONDON LIP CLINIC

Preparing properly for your appointment helps ensure your facial filler dissolving treatment is as safe and effective as possible.

  • Attend a comprehensive consultation with Rupesh Shah to discuss your concerns, treatment goals and medical history.
  • If possible, provide details of the filler previously injected, including the product used, treatment date and clinic where it was performed.
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment to help minimise bruising.
  • Avoid aspirin, ibuprofen and other blood-thinning medications or supplements for 48 hours before treatment (unless medically prescribed—never stop prescribed medication without consulting your doctor).
  • Arrive with clean skin, free from makeup where possible.
  • Inform your practitioner if you have a history of allergies, previous reactions to hyaluronidase, active cold sores, skin infections, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • A small skin test may be recommended before treatment to assess for rare allergic reactions to hyaluronidase.

Your treatment at London Lip Clinic is performed with precision, safety and comfort in mind.

  • Rupesh Shah will carry out a detailed facial assessment and explain the expected outcome before treatment begins.
  • Clinical photographs may be taken to document your progress.
  • The treatment area will be cleansed thoroughly.
  • Hyaluronidase is carefully injected into the unwanted hyaluronic acid filler using fine needles.
  • Most patients experience only mild discomfort, similar to having dermal filler injections.
  • Treatment usually takes 20–30 minutes, depending on the number of areas being treated.
  • In many cases, the filler begins to dissolve within minutes, with significant improvement becoming visible over the following 24–48 hours.
  • If appropriate, a review appointment will be arranged to assess whether any additional dissolving is required.

Following the correct aftercare helps reduce side effects and ensures the best possible outcome.

  • Mild swelling, redness, tenderness or bruising is common and usually settles within a few days.
  • Apply a cool compress if recommended to help reduce swelling.
  • Avoid touching, rubbing or massaging the treated area unless specifically instructed.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms and hot baths for 24 hours.
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours, as it may increase bruising.
  • Sleep with your head slightly elevated on the first night if swelling occurs.
  • Continue to protect your skin with a healthy skincare routine and daily SPF.
  • Most patients are reviewed after 1–2 weeks to ensure the filler has dissolved as planned.
  • If you wish to have dermal filler replaced, it is generally recommended to wait 2–4 weeks, allowing the tissues to fully settle before reinjection.
  • Contact London Lip Clinic immediately if you experience excessive swelling, severe pain, signs of infection or any unexpected reaction.

Patients choose dissolving treatment for many reasons, including:

  • Overfilled or unnatural-looking results
  • Filler migration
  • Facial asymmetry
  • Lumps or irregularities
  • Persistent swelling
  • Visible filler beneath the skin
  • Unsatisfactory results from previous treatments
  • Preparing for a complete facial rejuvenation or refill
  • Returning to a more natural appearance
  • Treating complications associated with hyaluronic acid filler

Not every concern requires complete filler removal. At London Lip Clinic, Rupesh Shah performs a comprehensive facial assessment to determine whether partial dissolving, complete dissolving or a combination of dissolving and refilling will provide the best aesthetic outcome. Our goal is always to preserve facial harmony and achieve natural-looking, balanced results.

Hyaluronidase only dissolves hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers. It does not dissolve permanent fillers, silicone, calcium hydroxylapatite (e.g. Radiesse®), poly-L-lactic acid (e.g. Sculptra®), or other non-hyaluronic acid filler products. These require different management approaches.
